Positivity Training Summer 2019

Positivity Training Programme Summer 2019

The Importance of Positivity at Old Friends Care

All of our carers will be invovled in a Positivity Training Session over the next few weeks following a recent realisation that our Carers deserve more recongition for the extra things that they do every day for our Service Users. Although these things are outside of their job role, the large majority of our staff all provided us with examples of how they have gone Above and Beyond for their Service Users in order to provide them with the care they deserve. The feedback we have received from our first session has indicated how rewarding care-work can be as all of our staff are passionate about the amazing work they do every day for those that deserve it the most. It is clear that our Service Users and Carers have incredible relationships and bonds with each other, which has enabled our company to consistently provide the best care we possibly can. Thus, our Positivity Training Sessions have enabled us to recognise and appreciate all the staff at Old Friends Care. We are extremely proud of our Staff and the amazing Care work that they provide for our Service Users on a daily basis across Redditch.

Feedback from our Three Positivity Training Sessions - 3rd July 2019, 10th July 2019 and 17th July 2019

All of our Carers that attended this session were asked to provide details about 3 things that they have done for their Service Users outside of their normal care plan. These are just a selection of some of the examples that our Staff gave that indicated how they had all gone 'Above and Beyond' within their job role recently:

Our Positivity Training Progamme was attended by a total of 25 carers. All of these Carers were asked to provide 3 examples of how they had gone 'Above and Beyond' recently. Out of the 25 Carers who were asked this question:

  • 16 of our Carers said that they had been to the shop in their own time to purchase items for the Service Users.
  • 8 of our Carers said that you had stayed at a Service User’s home for longer than their allocated call-time or you have arrived at a call early to help out.
  • 15 of our Carers said that they completed errands for their Service User's; including collecting their medication, communicating with the Chemist on their behalf, taking them to medical appointments, completing extra cleaning for them and posting letters for them.

Do you have what it takes to be a Carer at Old Friends Care?

At Old Friends Care we want to celebrate our Carers that go the 'Extra Mile' as care-work can be both an extremely challenging and rewarding career. We are always grateful for the strong team of Carers we have here at Old Friends Care and we are very proud of the quality of care that our Carers allow us to provide every day. Due to the nature of care-work, we want to emphasis how despite its challenges at times, we believe it is one of the most fulfilling careers that an individual can pursue. Therefore, we are encouraging anyone who is interested in caring to get in touch with us as we are always looking to employ passionate and positive individuals to represent us as Carers.

All of our Staff memebers who attended the first Positivity Training session were asked to provide 3 things that they like the most about working for Old Friends Care. The chart below demonstrates the answers that were given in response to this question and we feel that the results below embody the core values of what it means to work for Old Friends Care:

We would ultimately like to congratulate all of our Staff for the unnoticed things that they do every day that help our Service Users to feel happy and comfortable in their own home. We appreciate all of you that go 'Above and Beyond' every day within our community.
